The most underrated flower in the box

Modern carnations have nothing to do with the commodity flower of decades past. Bred for head size, petal count and longevity, and grown with today's post-harvest care, they routinely outlast every other stem in the vase — and they survive the journey better than almost anything else we ship.

Why programs are built on them

• Vase life: among the longest of any commercial cut flower, commonly two weeks or more.
• Durability: tolerant of long transit times and imperfect handling at destination.
• Colour range: solids, bicolours and dyed novelties for every season and holiday.
• Value: high flower count per box, which is what makes retail bouquet margins work.

Standard and spray

Standard carnations carry one large bloom per stem and anchor a bouquet the way a rose does, at a very different cost. Spray carnations carry several smaller blooms per stem and do the job of both focal flower and filler. Most supermarket programs we supply use both.

Specification

Stems are cut at 60–70 cm and packed in bunches of 25 for standards, by stem count for sprays. Cutting point is adjusted per market — tighter for long transits, more open for nearby destinations. Every box is traceable to the farm and harvest date.
